Reiki healing and the healing world

We live in a dynamic society where everything changes and expands, technology, cities, and people's mind. Following that trend, the wellness world expands too. The variety of practices nowadays to help people stay aligned could be overwhelming if you are new to these things. There is a cacao ceremony, womb healing, yoga, art therapy, color therapy, tantra. I believe each practice or healing modality comes into our lives to help us grow and expand in some way. It's almost like a puzzle, each healing is adding a piece to see the bigger picture and opening the doors to our wholeness.

Sometimes I hear people sharing that the healing practice didn't work on them or they didn't feel anything. I am leaving the space that might be the case sometimes. However, more often is not that the healing modality didn't work, but rather self-sabotaging.

The self-sabotaging usually happens on a subconscious level, as the person comes with good intentions to feel better and grow, but due to belief systems or fear to grow and face the internal blockages and shadows, they are limiting their experience with the healing practice they decided to try. Hence, the most important is before you try anything check how much you believe it could help you and do you have strong resistance to it. As we know from the countless experiments with the placebo effect belief is the magic ingredient to everything. I will go into more detail about the subject in another article.

Reiki healing

One of the healing modalities which became more widely available and recognized is Reiki healing. Probably you came across it at least once and even if you hadn't, trust me you will. This article was inspired by one of my recent clients, she was so amazed by the Reiki healing session she had with me, she wanted to read more about it. I told her, I will send her a link, and then I was thinking hold on, why don't I share with the world my experience with Reiki. This brings us here.

Reiki is truly a fascinating healing modality

Reiki is truly a fascinating healing modality, which never stops impressing me. I have been a Reiki master since 2018 and started practicing more intensely at the beginning of 2019. Since then I worked with countless people from different walks of life. I have seen traumas being healed, people finding themselves again, people completely changing their lives, starting new businesses, and dealing with grief. There is something special to being part of someone's life sometimes in its lowest and saddest moments. As almost you see how they emerge transformed session after session. You see how people start to understand themselves better and what is important to them and what they might have been ignoring along the way.

And I am there taking the journey with them, this itself is priceless for me as a healer. It brings me the utmost joy.

What is Reiki Healing?

There is a non-physical energy that gives life to every living organism. For many thousands of years, we have known of this energy. The Japanese named this energy Ki. It is also known as Chi by the Chinese, and Prana by several Asian cultures. We carry this energy in and around our bodies from the moment we are conceived.

Luckily, science has established its existence, and with the aid of Kirlian photography, we can see this energy that encompasses all living things.

Ancient Eastern cultures have harnessed and applied this energy for healing since before the birth of Jesus Christ. Many successful disciplines such as Reiki, Tai Chi, Feng Shui, Meditation, Yoga and Acupuncture have been developed to control and greatly enhance the flow of this energy in and around the body.

Moving deeper, Reiki is a form of hands-on healing, with its origins in the East, some claim dating back many thousands of years ago to the time before Christ and Buddha. The original name, disciplines and techniques of Reiki were lost due to the traditional method of passing knowledge from generation to generation by word of mouth. Exactly when this ancient art of healing disappeared is difficult to determine. However, we do know that it was rediscovered by a Japanese Scholar and monk named Dr Mikao Usui.

What does Reiki mean?

Reiki is a two-syllable Japanese word meaning universal life force. The proper Japanese pronunciation is RYE-KEY, it has been westernised to RAY-KEY. Rei means universal, is present everywhere at the same time. Ki is the non-physical vitality that gives life to all living things.

Many cultures understand and recognize the importance of Ki energy and how it impacts our lives and well-being. Ki energy can be activated for healing. When you feel healthy and full of enthusiasm, the flow of Ki energy in your body is high and balanced. Life seems easier to deal with and you have a higher resistance to illness and disease. However, when your Ki energy is low because maybe you are under stress or feeling unhappy and tired you will be more susceptible to disease and sickness. Your attitude will be generally negative and you will find it difficult to deal with life’s challenges. And we all have experienced that when we feel good things just happen easily, and conversations flow, almost like everything comes our way. And we had experienced the opposite, we witness unpleasant conversations, we attract angry people, or we are becoming agitated, and sometimes might seem that we attract problem after problem.

What, does happen during Reiki healing session?

The person receiving the reiki healing will be asked to sit or lie down ( usually on a massage table). You don't undress for Reiki session. The best is to not have heavy metal jewelry as Reiki can travel through it. Wear comfortable clothing so the client can relax more easily. Then the client will be guided through a short relaxation to help them relax even further and be more receptive to reiki healing. During the reiki healing session, people report similar sensations. Some experience warmth or coolness, tingling and pins and needles feeling. Others report a feeling of deep relaxation and calmness. I have seen people have emotional release and cry during reiki sessions, and people have experienced temporary pain which went away and they said they felt they let go of something.

During reiki healing sessions, people had insights into their lives and their future. Often is reported that after reiki healing sessions people feel cleansed. Others feel reiki healing energy in more subtle ways. There is no right or wrong way to experience reiki healing. Reiki always goes where it most needs it.
